Next month will be two years since a one hour class changed my life. I wanted to try CrossFit in order to achieve full body fitness for I was about to go to a very physically demanding Army school. I picked CrossFit Bluegrass purely based off the fact that it was the closest box to Shelbyville, where I currently live. Well that particular Army school is over, there are now two CrossFit Gyms in Shelbyville, and I still choose to be part of CrossFit Bluegrass.
I was bored with the normal workout of just running and then lifting free weights, I couldn’t afford a personal trainer that could design workouts for me in order to improve my overall fitness, and I needed a challenge. After that first class at Bluegrass I knew I found a fix to everything and I got hooked. I never knew I would have so much fun doing a work out, but in a CrossFit workout you don’t have any time to get bored. The only thing I can think about is going through the challenge of completing the next rep and finishing what seems like an unachievable workout. While you are pushing yourself and keeping your heart in your chest, you are going through all of this with other amazing athletes.
I had a Drill Sargent tell me once after some “corrective exercising” that misery loves company and that is how you can make some long lasting friendship within our platoon. CFBG doesn’t just offer great fitness but the people and the coaches at this gym are over half the reason I keep coming back. There is so much to learn and so many skills to improve on in CrossFit and at CFBG there is someone who can make you better at anything you want. Long term – I want to complete 100% of all METCONs at Rx. TO do this I will have to put the coaches through the frustration of me attempting Ring MUs, but I know they will help me the whole way until I can do them in my sleep!
