Megan’s sister, Morgan, introduced her to CrossFit about 2 ½ years ago as “this crazy thing you might like”. Being a three-sport athlete in high school and playing on any intramural college team she had time for, she was looking for something more exciting than the long distance running and weight training she was doing since graduation.
It took 12 minutes to finish her first “official” CrossFit workout, Fran, (which was scaled for both movements) but would forever have an impact on her life.
Megan began CrossFitting immediately afterwards andstarting working with JoEllyn in September 2014 to improve her Olympic lifts and gymnastic skills. She officially joined the Bluegrass family in January 2015.
Inspired by the changes she had seen in her body composition, mental state, and overall fitness, she became certified to help others improve their well-being and quality of life. Some of the greatest joys Megan gets from coaching are watching someone overcome an obstacle, finally perform a skill they’ve been practicing, or watch their face light up when they realize they’ve set a new PR or done something they never thought they could.
Being a real foodie and moving to Louisville in 2012, outside the gym Megan and her husband enjoy experiencing the awesome food culture the city has to offer. She’s always open for recommendations of great local restaurants!
