James was introduced to CrossFit in 2012. He didn’t know anything about it until a friend (Coach Matt) started hounding him to give it a try. Finally, with the encouragement of his wife and Matt, the month CFBG open up in September, James went for his first CrossFit workout. James says, “I remember it like it was yesterday…..terrible!” I don’t think I completed the metcon and my back squat looked like something I wouldn’t teach today! I have been caught in this whirlwind ever since.
At first, what caught his attention was the diversity in terms of the workouts. Then the camaraderie of the community/box and he started meeting some of his lifetime fitness goals.
Now, CrossFit is very much part of his life, in terms of the fitness model “sickness-wellness-fitness” Continuum and James loves helping others achieve their goals. He also gets to workout with his best friend, his wife Megan.
James ran track (800m and 1600m) in high school but in college was into basketball and flag football. He has been active ever since and then earned his CrossFit Level 1 in March 2015 at CrossFit Atlanta in Atlanta, GA.
Being a real foodie and moving to Louisville in 2012, outside the gym Megan and her husband enjoy experiencing the awesome food culture the city has to offer. She’s always open for recommendations of great local restaurants!
